As you cruise from station to station aboard our certified and fully equipped research vessel, enjoy the historic beauty of Woods Hole during a 90 minute Hands-On Discovery Cruise.

The Discovery Cruises give passengers an introduction to the major disciplines within oceanography. Passengers are actively involved manipulating equipment, collecting data, and discovering the wonder of ocean sciences.

Time during the cruise is divided among three stations.

In the stern of the vessel passengers are concentrating on the biological aspects of oceanography. Pull lobster traps, drag a plankton net; use a Discovery Scope to see microorganisms collected.

Reach into our live tank handle and learn the natural history sea life you captured.

In the bow passengers are operating the instrumentation and equipment useful to study physical and meteorological oceanography.

In the cabin the group MAY explore the basics of ocean water chemistry, or participate in a simple horseshoe crab lab, or learn more about plankton. Each cruise is different - our audiences drive the program topics.

The OceanQuest staff will guide you through a program that will be relevant, comprehensive, interesting, and fun!

Reservations strongly recommended for all Cruises

Cruises may be cancelled due to weather or if passenger count does not meet cruise minimum. We will make every effort to reschedule passengers on another cruise.
